CAPO PLAZAPALAZZETTI 2025
A Phone Call That Sparked It All
It began with the simplest of sparks: a call between Jordan Babev and Andrea Aurigo from Live Nation 3. No lengthy briefs, no overblown concepts at first—just Andrea’s request for something iconic. “Think out of the box,” he said, and that challenge became the guiding star for the entire show. (Yes, we did end up making a box!)
We were determined to flip expectations. What if we treated the whole stage as a single, cohesive installation rather than a traditional setup? That question led us to the idea of a colossal “box,” only half of which would remain intact.
Visually, we wanted the audience to see two massive rectangular surfaces—one vertical and one horizontal—connected by shared LED screens. Picture a towering vertical monolith suspended above a matching performance floor. Our goal was to create a design that felt more like a monumental sculpture than a conventional concert backdrop.
To emphasize that installation vibe, we surrounded the stage with beams of light slicing through the air in geometric patterns, creating 3D forms. Below, a metallic grill floor provided an industrial edge and hid special effects that erupted unexpectedly throughout the performance—bursts of smoke, fire, or CO₂ jets.
A Box That Evolves
One of the most striking aspects of our design was the way the “box” itself transformed throughout the show. While it began as a half-box structure, it was never static. Instead, it kept evolving, completing itself multiple times with different materials and textures.
At certain moments, sharp beams of light sliced through the shadows, forming the illusion of a fully enclosed space. Other times, dense smoke or powerful CO₂ jets filled the gaps, briefly making the box feel whole in unpredictable ways. Sheets of fire erupted in sync with the music, casting dynamic shadows that reshaped the structure with every beat.
This ever-changing visual approach reinforced our goal of making the stage feel like a living, breathing installation rather than a fixed set piece. No two moments were ever quite the same—just as no two songs carried the same energy.
Making It Happen
Orchestrating this bold concept required a seamless blend of creative vision and production expertise. At Live Nation 3, Project Manager Andrea Aurigo oversaw day-to-day developments, while Production Manager Giulio Koelliker ensured every element stayed on schedule and on budget. Matteo Chichiarelli served as Technical Production Designer, meticulously translating our “box” vision into workable plans. Meanwhile, Pietro Mandelli acted as Artist Liaison, bridging the gap between Capo Plaza and the production crew to make sure every detail aligned with the artist’s needs.
From Blearred Milano’s side, Jordan Babev and Davide Pedrotti led the charge as Head Creative Designers, collaborating closely with Lighting Designer Francesco Mingoia and Creative Director Pablo Solari to craft a cohesive narrative that went beyond simple set design. Behind the scenes, Elisa Fiumanò handled logistics, keeping schedules and countless other details running smoothly, while Matteo, Olek, Marzio, and Francesco created the 3D renderings and technical drawings that turned abstract ideas into tangible realities. All of this was presented in VR to the artist. Finally, Nicolò Maffeis took command of lighting programming and operated the dazzling cues during the show itself.
Simultaneously, a dedicated Visuals & Technical team brought additional layers of magic to the performance. Highfiles Visuals—with Riccardo Franco-Loiri, Tommaso Rinaldi, and Niccolò Borgia—developed stunning video content and live camera effects that flowed seamlessly with our towering LED screens. Luca Casadei from Mister X guided the lighting department for the rental company, while Andrea Russo and Jonny Bonvini managed video media server programming and technical support. Special effects came courtesy of Artech, led by Luca Toscano, complemented by Simone Balotta’s careful FX programming.
A.I., Ferite, and Mini Movies
Capo Plaza’s album Ferite opened up fresh avenues for visual storytelling. Katsukokoiso—an A.I. artist—took the project even further by creating three mini-videos powered by artificial intelligence. Each clip reflected the album’s essence, delivering haunting yet mesmerizing imagery that pushed creative boundaries.
Luca Pellegrini provided bespoke soundscapes for these video interludes, merging sight and sound into an otherworldly experience.
Throughout the show, each track shifted the tone: one moment, the LED screen stood solid and imposing; the next, it was lost behind a wall of smoke, leaving only silhouettes. Beams of light cut through the haze, while bursts of pyro, fire columns, CO₂ jets, and sparkular effects erupted across and sometimes beyond the stage, bringing the audience into the spectacle. The stage’s shape also allowed fans to surround the performance area, immersing themselves in new perspectives from song to song.
Thinking “Out of the Box”
When we look back on this collaboration with Capo Plaza, one phrase stands out: “out of the box.” From Andrea’s initial phone call to the final curtain, that mantra pushed us to merge art installation and live show design in a way that felt genuinely fresh.
